Silver Buds White Tea: The Precious Essence of the Bud – Lokayah

Silver Buds White Tea: The Precious Essence of the Bud – Lokayah

Among the world's most sought-after white teas, Silver Buds holds a special place. This exceptional tea, made exclusively from unopened buds covered in fine silver down , offers a pure, floral, and almost ethereal infusion. Originating from the highlands of Sri Lanka, it is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and a harvest of rare delicacy.

An early morning and precise harvest

Silver Buds is the result of an imperial harvest : only the youngest, perfectly formed buds are selected by hand at dawn, when the dew still protects the leaves.

Harvested mainly in Nuwara Eliya and in some remote areas of Uva , these buds are then simply withered and dried away from the sun, to preserve their essential oils and their natural finesse .

What sets Silver Buds apart

This tea is recognizable by its silvery, silky appearance and its subtle but persistent taste. In the cup, it produces a very pale, almost translucent liquor with notes of:

  • floral (orchid, linden)

  • soft vegetables (cucumber, fresh herbs)

  • sometimes mineral or slightly honeyed

Its texture is very smooth, without bitterness, ideal for slow, mindful tasting.

Why choose Silver Buds tea?

  • Exclusivity : This tea represents only a very small percentage of world production.

  • Nutritional richness : buds rich in antioxidants (catechins) , without transformation or oxidation.

  • Light and digestible infusion , low in theine, perfect for the evening.

Preparing Silver Buds White Tea

Like all noble white teas, Silver Buds requires precise infusion:

  • 🌡️ Water temperature : 75–80°C

  • Infusion time : 4 to 6 minutes

  • 🍵 Quantity : 2 to 3g per 200ml

  • 🔁 Re-infusions : up to 3 passes possible

Preferably use a porcelain or glass teapot, so as not to alter the subtlety of its aromas.

Benefits associated with Silver Buds

  • Natural defenses reinforced thanks to polyphenols

  • Gentle hydration and detox

  • Relaxing and soothing effect without drowsiness

  • Supports skin and tissues through its antioxidant properties
